Waking Up

6.3. – 26.4.2009

With “Waking Up” Haus am Waldsee presents for the first time within a Berlin art institution the Austrian painter Clemens Krauss who lives in Berlin and received his education in London.

Krauss works on the notion of the contemporary person as a performative embodiment of social and mediated experience. He views the human body as a metaphor for society, religion, politics and sexuality – as a projection screen. He frames bodies from extreme perspectives. They appear to be placeless against a white background. Formally reduced to colour-spots their content is charged with sensuous power, communicating with one another.
