Beuys lecture by Prof. Dr. Philip Ursprung
On 2 July, the Zurich professor of art history, Philip Ursprung, presented his book “Joseph Beuys, Kunst, Kapital, Revolution”, which had just been published on the occasion of Joseph Beuys’ 100th birthday. In front of a full “house” under the beech tree in the park, Ursprung inspired with humour and thoughtfulness to think about Beuys in a new way, less from a biographical than from a contemporary historical perspective. Thus, the author analyses actions and works against the background of a Federal Republic that developed from the Adenauer era to the European Community. With this recommendable book, reflection on Beuys passes to the generation that no longer personally experienced the exceptional artist and activist. This opens up exciting new perspectives on this globally received work.
