Jazz concert Dell-Lillinger-Westergaard
On the first summery evening of the year, the trio Christopher Dell, Chrstian Lillinger, Jonas Westergaard accomplished a terrific performance that moved between free jazz and new music. The highly coordinated play of the three top musicians unfolded on the stage of the former amphitheatre. The acoustics around the lake and between the sculptures of Lynn Chadwick and Hans Uhlmann were surprisingly great.
The large audience enjoyed this high point of immense sound precision and the musicians’ joy in improvisation. In their quietest sequences, the trio noticeably enjoyed connecting with the birdsong in the park. At other points, the trio developed their play in a seemingly ecstatic way. Everyone who had primed their senses to this listening experience in the open was enthused. Big applause. There was no encore after almost 90 minute-long, intense performance but it was followed by an in-depth conversation with the artists.
