Fischmond am Waldsee

As part of Haus am Waldsee’s 80th anniversary, Ayumi Paul creates Fischmond am Waldsee—a path that inscribes itself into the institution’s sculpture garden. A sonic composition based on the bird calls on site before sunrise guides visitors along nine stones, installed across the garden and engraved with a symbol: a fish held within a moon. Anchored in deep time and oral transmission, and recalling the friendships that have shaped the landscape throughout time, the work brings together Paul’s research into geological processes, the migration paths of plants and animals, as well as historical and personal memories linked to the site. Visitors are not only invited to walk the path, but to enliven it through gestures and rituals.
