Audio Guide on Modern Architecture

Our audio guides on modern architecture and the Bruno Taut settlement are especially popular in spring and summer and lead architecture enthusiasts to the highlights in the immediate neighbourhood of Zehlendorf.  

We also took advantage of the early summer temperatures and tested the guides ourselves. We began with the tour on modern architecture. Equipped with bicycles and headphones, we  started at Haus am Waldsee. The route led us to a dozen jewels of modern villa architecture. From neoclassicism to English country house style and Bauhaus, you learn a lot about modern housing architecture of the 1910s and 20s. In addition, biographical details about the respective architects, such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius or Hermann Muthesius, are thrown in. Especially during summer time, the tour is highly recommended, as the temperatures always remain pleasant in the shade of the alley trees. If you would like to cool off, just make a quick stopover at Schlachtensee. After two hours we returned to Haus am Waldsee with an ice cream in our hands and our verdict is: Try it out, it’s worth it!
