With Alicja Kwade (born in Poland in 1979, lives and works in Berlin) we enter a field for experimentation in artistic research of the sciences. Her exhibition Monologue from the 11th floor displays how consistent and the versatilite the sculptor and conceptual artist treats the seemingly predictable and yet unimaginable for more than ten years. In the exhibition Kwade starts, above all, from such notions as space-time curvature, twin paradoxes and so-called wormholes to challenge the viewer’s perception. Kwade translates theoretical constructs into the language of art. Thus, she opens a complex game of possibilities and contingencies, which seem symptomatic for the current state of our society.
How does the new enter the world?
